House victory checklist
A House player wins on collecting a second Defence Shield. To obtain a Shield, arrive at its space with a Library Book, a Parchment Scroll and the access item shown on that Shield: either the Dark Detector or a D.A. Coin. Exchange the required items. Merely visiting the space or holding the ingredients elsewhere does not award it. [pp.5, 11]
House players can coordinate, but this is an individual House victory condition. Do not turn it into a shared two-Shield total. [pp.5, 23]
What to collect before a Shield
You need a Book, a Scroll and the Shield’s specified access item. The Loyalty and rewards guide explains the Library, Location-card exchange, Detector and D.A. Coin routes in detail.
Dark Arts victory checklist
Dark Arts needs all three Progress Tokens and the required pawns simultaneously at the location shown by its Location card. Taking that card at the first red Event Space creates a three-pawn requirement; delaying until the next red Event Space makes it two. The final path space instructs a one-pawn requirement and requires taking the Location card if it has not yet been taken. [pp.22–23]
Record the target when it is established. Do not claim that entering the red zone is itself a win, or that every path step automatically changes the target. The final-space instruction is its own special case. [pp.22–23]
The path has ended. Is the game over?
Not automatically. At the last space, players draw up to five cards and cannot Replenish again. Continue trying to meet a victory condition. If everyone exhausts their cards before anyone wins, the result is a draw. The rulebook explicitly preserves exceptions for card effects and draw spaces; the restriction is not a blanket prohibition on all subsequent draws. [pp.22–23]
Checks before calling a winner
- House: has one player actually collected two Shields?
- Dark Arts: are all three Tokens secured, and are the required pawns at the destination together?
- Final stage: are you applying the no-Replenish rule and its exceptions before declaring a draw?
